Closure of Cutty Sark DLR Station May 2025 until Spring 2026

Closure of Cutty Sark DLR Station from 31st May 2025 until Spring 2026 for essential escalator replacement works

CUTTY SARK DLR CLOSED FROM 31 MAY 2025

From 31st May 2025, Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich DLR station temporarily closes for replacement of the 25-year-old escalator system. The works will significantly improve efficiency and convenience, enhancing the customer experience throughout the station as well as being a significant long-term investment.

New TfL data indicates 92% of visitors during the closure will use Greenwich Station DLR as the main alternative as normal DLR services continue to operate between Bank and Lewisham. TfL has also been raising awareness of access to Greenwich via local river services, buses and via Maze Hill National Rail Station.

Visit Greenwich, one of our world heritage executive partners, has been working closely with Transport for London and Royal Borough of Greenwich to minimise the impact on visitation to Maritime Greenwich. Please see the press release on behalf of Royal Borough of Greenwich with TfL and Visit Greenwich.

HOW TO GET HERE support

There are a number of ways in which you can find alternative routes and plan routes to Maritime Greenwich.

a) Updates to travel information on the Visit Greenwich website “Plan Your Trip”  page encouraging visitors to search for alternative routes, plus live updates on TfL Journey Planner.

c) Greenwich Tourist Information Centre remains open in the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre at the Old Royal Naval College.

• Additional signage will be installed for passengers arriving via platforms of both DLR and National Rail at Greenwich Station, directing visitors to Greenwich High Road, either a quick bus ride, or 11-minute walk to “Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site and Town Centre”.
